The cool crisp air starts to roll in and you notice the leaves changing. Then all of a sudden it hits you. At this moment you realize that you are single and alone during cuffing season.
Cuffing season is during the Fall and Winter months when the weather gets cooler and you long to be indoors and “cuffed” or bound by a serious relationship. Instead, you find yourself cuddled up with some ice cream, movies and a bottle of emotions of feeling “super single”.
But before you get too stir crazy in your head, here are 5 Vital Ways to Survive Cuffing Season Single:
It can feel super easy to believe you are the only one single during the holiday feels. Even if you feel super single do not settle. Keep in mind if you settle you are talking about the potential of settling with this person for life. Instead, challenge yourself to explore what is driving the thought of needing to settle this season. Pause and reflect on why you feel the urge and need to settle.
Don’t Worry Be Happy
You are as happy as you make your mind up to be. In order to be happy it is super important to implement fun into your life. Get into a hobby or do something that gets you meeting different people. Join a softball league or running club. Doing something out of your comfort zone can sometimes push you to grow as a person. And hey who knows, maybe you will meet someone doing that.
Schedule a Girls Nights
Create a bi-weekly girls night. Make it super fun and offer to host it at your place. This can actually help you clear your mind to see that even if your girlfriends are in relationships they’re not always with their boyfriends. Plus being around friends and social settings will help you build a connection. So even if you are feeling a bit down that you don’t have someone to cuddle with you can see that you’ve still got awesome girlfriends to be around.
Partake in Fall/Winter Activities
If there is a haunted hayride or if your friend is throwing a Holiday party, go! Getting into the season can actually help shift your frustrations while being single. This will help you focus more on the fun around the season and less inward. When you try different themed activities it can help create a broader perspective. Just keep in mind the idea is to go into this with no expectations but to focus on staying present.
Shift your mindset for gatherings
You may be wanting to avoid Thanksgiving because your nosey aunt always puts pressure on you to be in a relationship. Instead of worrying about what your aunt will say this year, keep your focus on spending quality time with family and friends during holiday gatherings. Think about all of the things that you are grateful for and create a gratitude list. It can feel easy to want to list the negative things..ahem..like no boyfriend. Shifting your mindset will help you be able to enjoy the simple things this cuffing season.
